Futurama: Bender’s Game (2008)

Rooooooccccccckkkkkeeeetttttt Ship.
I am sitting here watching the new Futurama for the second time and i have to say, I have been so anxious to see this again. This is the third straight-to-DVD movie and the first that really truly made me hark back to the glory days of the FOX series.
The previous movies have been average, at best. As much as I’ve wanted to love them they just seemed like they tried cramming way to much story instead of letting their characters just be themselves.
There a few basic storylines going on in Bender’s Game that blend together well. After Leela is insulted by redneck truckers, she’s goated into taking out her anger with them at a demolition derby. When the Professor finds out she stole the Planet Express ship she gets fitted with an anger management collar. Of course this being the future, the only collar available to Hermes the accountant is a shock collar at Office Depot. Funniness ensues. Bender then takes a page from Tom Hanks and freaks the F out. He now thinks he’s in a character in Dungeons & Dragons which gets him locked away in the HAL Institute for the Criminally Insane Robots along with Rosie the Robot. I always had a feeling she was up to no good. I mean a female robot wearing an apron is freakin’ creepy…don’t ya think?
My favorite supporting character finally makes her return and by god, she is EVIL. MOM returns along with her sons Walt, Larry and Igner. MOM now controls the world’s dark matter industry (fuel for spaceships) and the world is completely under wrinkly, old thumb.
Only one more Futurama movie to go. Can David X and the rest of the crew go out with a bang?
