Check out what’s new in theaters near you this weekend!
Seven Pounds
Ben Thomas (Will Smith) is an IRS agent with a fateful secret who embarks on an extraordinary journey of redemption by forever changing the lives of seven strangers. Co-starring Rosario Dawson and Woody Harrelson.
The Tale of Despereaux
Brave and virtuous mouse, Despereaux (voiced by Matthew Broderick) is tiny, wheezy and saddled with comically oversized ears — but he believes he was destined to be celebrated in tales of chivalry. When he’s banished from his home, Despereaux befriends fellow outcast Roscuro (voiced by Dustin Hoffman), a good-hearted rat who hopes to live far from the grim underground. On their adventures, their friendship will be tested as the two embark upon a journey that will change the way they look at their world, and prove that what you look like doesn’t equal what you are.
Yes Man
A man signs up for a self-help program based on one simple principle: say yes to everything… and anything. At first, unleashing the power of “yes” transforms his life in amazing and unexpected ways, but he soon discovers that opening up his life to endless possibilities can have its drawbacks. Hey Zooey Deschanel is in it, but the negative is it’s Jim Carrey and he’s sucked since Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind….just sayin’.
The Wrestler
Randy “The Ram” Robinson (Mickey Rourke), a 1980s-era pro wrestler, has become a burnt-out shell of his former self. After he has a heart attack during a small-time match, a doctor tells him he could die if he fights again. In an effort to build a new life, Robinson takes a job at a deli, moves in with an aging stripper (Marisa Tomei) and tries to build a relationship with her son. But the prospect of a rematch with his old nemesis, the Ayatollah, proves too tempting to resist, even if it means risking his life.
