John Vanderslice is the Man
Posted by Erin in Entertainment and Pop Culture Music.
Sometimes I get caught up in listening to new music and forget that I have some old stand-bys that never fail to please. John Vanderslice is nothing short of incredible. His music is unconventional but strikes enough familiar notes that you’ll wonder where he’s been all your life.
For those of the literary persuasion, you will be pleased to note that in the song “Pale Horse,” Vanderslice adapts the text of a Percy Bysse Shelley poem. The following stanza from the poem should illustrate the power of the poem and the resulting power of the song:
Rise like Lions after slumber
In unvanquishable number -
Shake your chains to earth like dew
Which in sleep had fallen on you -
Ye are many - they are few.
It’s intense. Okay. Now that I am in this intense mood, I am going to get back to watching Ghost Hunters, but if you’re looking for new music, you should give John Vanderslice a try. Also try to see him in concert because he is the sweetest, cutest little guy, and he kind of looks like my Uncle John, and I love him.
