Show: In Plain Sight
Episode: “Stan By Me” (1×11)
You Can Watch It: On ips.usanetwork.com because the season has ended.
This week on In Plain Sight , the writers decided to give everyone a heart condition by making sure that there was not a second during which this show was airing that any loyal viewer could breathe. The silver lining, however, was that we got a ton of answers about the whole Brandi’s suitcase of meth storyline. While on her way to work, Mary notices that she’s being followed and she easily looses her tail, but not before spotting her mother walking down an Albuquerque street dressed like a hooker. She was dressed like a hooker because she was auditioning for a musical at the local theater and got locked out. When Mary investigates and sees her mother singing on stage for her audition, Jinx notices her almost immediately and looses it. She storms out of the theater hysterical after telling Mary that she can never be happy unless her mother and sister are miserable. A confused Mary exits the back door of the theater to take a work-related phone call only to be assaulted by two kidnappers who eventually get her drugged and stuffed in the backseat of their car (the one that was tailing Mary earlier, of course). Mary’s cell phone goes flying underneath a dumpster. Detective Dershowitz hears it while conducting his investigation, which floods the street soon after Mary’s kidnapping, and the phone ends up being the piece of evidence that ties it all together that Mary was the blonde who was attacked. Dershowitz, Stan, and Marshall work together to evade the FBI’s investigation and stop them from outing Mary in the press as a U.S. Marshall all while conducting their own investigation which leads to finding and rescuing Mary. Turns out, Spanky, the drug dealer Brandi double-crossed in the last episode, had ordered some henchmen to kidnap Brandi and Chuck (back in New Jersey, which gets the FBI involved in the first place). Too bad they kidnapped the wrong sister! Mary does get a couple of good shots and punches off before the crew shows up to rescue her, but there are some pretty intense would-be sexual assault scenes that made this episode the “OMG! I can’t breathe!” hour of television that it was.
Conclusions:
Watch this, and all other episodes, online because I simply cannot do it justice here. Whew!
