drug-induced wedding dreams.
Posted by Sara in Weddings.
So instead of the camping trip that D and I have had planned for the last month, the two of us took turns fetching each other tissues, juice refills, and soup while watching Arrested Development and a barrage of movies.
Of course, drugs have been involved in this weekend: dayquil, nightquil, cometrex day and night, zyrtec, etc., all in the hopes of a more speedy recovery.
Although I’m not sure if that’s the case, they certainly have allowed for some strange, trippy dreams.
One in particular that stands out:
It was our wedding day, and I was wearing the wrong dress. It was this slate gray long dress that looked very much like what I picked out for my bridesmaids. Anyway, we (me, D, the bridal party, etc.) were all milling about on my grandmother’s lawn, half ready and seemingly confused. I know I didn’t have my hair or make up done, and I think I was wondering where the hell the dress came from. At some point I realized that we should be on my grandmother’s lawn (which in real life was where we initially were planning on having the ceremony), but at the venue we’re getting married at. I also realized that it was 1:30 right then, which was the time we were supposed to get married and I had totally missed all my appointments for my hair and make up.
There was also this big glass encased … thing … on my gmom’s lawn that seemed to be a ceremony site in a box. I’m guessing it was wrongly delivered there, or maybe I had someone deliver it there. I’m not really sure…
While all this confusion is taking place, a truck pulls up that has three random people from my childhood on the back, people I haven’t seen in year. Suddenly, they’re rolling large boulders towards the glass encased … thing … that’s on the lawn. Then I started yelling at them, explaining that they can’t do that because it might be a detail for my wedding and that I’m getting married that day. They apologized when I got closer, not realizing who I was, (I guess it was a good ol’ fashion act of prank vandalism?), we small talked for a moment or two, and then I woke up.
There are threads of this dream that I am able to connect to things happening in real life: One of the people who unintentionally was wrecking the glass thing was in a photograph I saw at my aunt’s studio (who’s doing our wedding photography), and this past week has been spent finalizing all the details for the hair and make up appointments. Still, in my dazed confusion of the morning I woke up, panicked and sweating (probably due to my fever), wondering if I should have gotten slate gray bridesmaid dresses instead…
3 more weeks to go!
