Lucy Blogs
it all comes together in the end…

alright, I owe you all a blog (or 6) about how the wedding turned out. In short: it was perfect.
Before I get to that, here are some of my pre-wedding day musings.
so here we are, just a few short days away from W-day… in the final stages of the planning. Now, with just about every detail covered, we are already beginning to reap the benefits of the hard work and planning: today was especially rewarding as 4 friends from Tejas flew in, along with my Maid of Honor, who now lives in San Francisco.
The afternoon was chock full of catching up, reminiscing, eating, laughing, and playing some truly horrible games of pool. It was spent talking about favorite memories while inevitably making new ones, introducing old friends to even older friends and brimming with excitement about the next few days to come.
After some slight panic surrounding the marriage license (if you live in a state that says you need to wait 72 hours for your marriage license, be sure you factor in the fact that it needs to be picked up during the constraints of the office’s work week/office hours…), we ended up in the office that handles this paper work, with a slightly annoyed clerk who couldn’t help but smirk and laugh at us and our friends as we sat there, bumbling around, making jokes, and chastising ourselves for our error. Regardless of what she probably thought when she got the 11th hour phone call earlier in the day, she smiled and wished us congratulations as we shuffled out of the office, down the hallway to pay our $28 in order to have the state of NJ officially recognize us as man and wife.
“You’re lucky this went through, or my parents would be throwing us one hell of a party to celebrate still not being married…”
“I know.”
“I probably wouldn’t have married you, you know… we would have ended up like Tim Robbins and Susan Sarandon…”
“Haha.”
“I’m serious”
“I know.”
